Black Women Who Didn't Get Snubbed With Grammy Nominations This Year

The Grammys have once again failed to recognize some spectacular music by Black women this season.

Despite rappers like Megan Thee Stallion, Rico Nasty, and Rapsody giving us a bevy of witty bars and singers like Solange, Ari Lennox and Summer Walker providing us with vulnerability, sex appeal, and vocals that bring tears to my eyes, none of these artists—among many talented others—received a single Grammy nomination.

But all is not lost. Instead of lamenting over what the Recording Academy got so wrong, it feels appropriate to celebrate the handful of Black women who did see their talent realized. So while I wait for the rest of the world to realize that Black women do rap and continue to shape pop culture as we know it, here are Black women who deservedly snagged Grammy nominations this year.
