The summer is winding down and some of you just endured your first week back to school as a student or teacher. For a lot of people, going back to school can be a stressful time. On the flipside, starting school again can also be an exciting time too. Fears can deprive from not being sure what to wear, meeting new people, having a new class schedule, having to manage assignment deadlines, and let’s not even get started on how to wear your hair. It can go on and on and become completely overwhelming.

However, the school year brings a fresh start and there are ways you can boss up for the new school year to ensure your own personal success:

1.     Plan Ahead

We always know procrastination is never anyone’s friend. Leaving things to the last minute like deciding what you’re going wear can give you anxiety of feeling behind before you even start. The night before try plan your outfit and prep your lunch and make a list of any other activities you have planned. Writing them down and using a notepad or planner specifically for your to do checklist will help in your morning preparations. Sis, you’ll thank yourself later once you get into the routine of having everything planned accordingly.

2.     Set Goals

Treat the new school year as a New Year resolution. Setting goals allows you to be able to measure your progress and accomplishments. This can range from anything such as making your bed every morning to losing 10lbs. Whether your goal is small or large it will help you maintain focus no matter the challenges you may face. Don’t forget, once you have achieved one of your goals, treat yourself, you deserve it.

3.     Self-Care

Allow yourself to enjoy that mask. Read that book. Dance to slow jams or continue to twerk for your #hotgirlsummer. It’s all about you. Focusing on your mental and physical health will help you thrive in the rest of your areas in life. You know the rule, put yourself first. Don’t be afraid to remind yourself it is acceptable to say ‘no’ to things.

4.     Beauty sleep

Getting the right amount of sleep at night can be a game changer in how your day can unfold. Studies say should get at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. The power of your Do Not Disturb setting on your phone will become your best friend. Limiting the amount of time before will help your mind slow down and relax. Light a candle or incense. Spray some lavender in the air and catch some Zzz’s.

5.     Eat Healthy

or Whatever the hell you want!

We all know there are benefits from changing our diets and the way we eat. Our eating habits have a lot to determine our health. Eating a well-balanced diet, no matter if you’re vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian or anything else in between, getting the proper nutrients is essential. Try to always carry a snack with you and drink plenty of water every day. Let that skin glow.

The bottom line is this school year will include many victories and challenges, but one thing is for sure, you’ll be living your best life being 100% a boss.
